This is an evaluation of visual skills that are required in reading and sport. To assess eye-tracking ability, we use the Developmental Eye Movement Test and the Visagraph III™. The Visagraph is an instrument that uses infrared sensor to record an individual’s eye movement while reading a paragraph. It also determines whether the patient read with reasonable comprehension for his/her grade-level.
To assess eye-focusing and eye-teaming skills, which is the ability to read comfortably without headaches, blurry or double vision, a variety of lenses, prisms and 3D glasses are placed in front of the eyes. A patient with visual skill deficits can result in secondary visual perceptual deficits, causing a seemingly bright child to struggle with reading or written tasks.
