Lifestyle Changes

Dry Eyes can not be cured, although successful alleviation of symptoms can be achieved through a number of treatment options. Such treatments may include:

  • Artificial Tears
  • Medicated Eye Drops or Ointments
  • Lid Scrubs
  • Oral Supplements
  • Oral and Topical Medications
  • Punctual Occlusion: a simple in-office procedure to block tear ducts

You can also reduce dryness and irritation by adhering to the following measures.

All Dry Eye Patients should:

  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Minimize the use of ceiling fans
  • Direct car and home air conditioners and heating vents away from your face
  • Use a humidifier to reduce dryness from the air
  • Consider having your air ducts cleaned
  • Replace air filters with a dust mite barrier
  • Consider aquariums or plant life in your work or home environment
